Want a BArch Seat ? Registration for NATA 2008 Open Now

Candidates who aspire for admission to 1st year of BArch (Bachelor of Architecture) in India should pass the National Aptitude Test in Architecture - NATA. It is a pre-qualification to take the BArch course in any Engineering College or Architecture School in India, including Government, Aided and Private institutions. Hence, if you are interested in selecting a BArch seat through the CET-2008 or COMEDK CET-2008, you need to pass and possess a Certificate of NATA. There is nothing like `One-Exam-per-year’. You can take the NATA any time convenient to you between 1 January 2008 and 31 September 2008 with a prior appointment. But, KEA has fixed April 23, 2008 as the last date for taking NATA - 2008 and April 26, 2008 as the last date for submitting the NATA scores to KEA. Now there is no hurry. But, it is better to take the exam earlier as you can possess the certificate in time or you make the repeat attempts if necessary. All the colleges offering the Architecture course conduct this NATA.

CLAT 2008 - Date:

Model:
The new common admission test is designed on the lines of other entrance tests such as the CAT, MAT, JEE etc..

2 hour - 5 Subjects:
Test will be of two-hour duration which would consist mainly of objective-type questions on English language, general knowledge, basic mathematics, legal and logical reasoning.

Place:
The first CLAT is being conducted by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. Besides, Law Schools at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Raipur, Bhopal, Gandhinagar and Jodhpur, CLAT will also be conducted at Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Shillong, Jammu, Guwahati, Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.

Admission Malpractice: Notice to 6 Bangalore Management Colleges

The Bangalore University on Saturday decided to issue showcause notices to six management colleges for admitting students with fake certificates. After a Syndicate meeting on Saturday, Bangalore University vice-chancellor H A Ranganath said a sub-committee headed by Prof A N Vijaya inspected 10 colleges, of which, six had discrepancies in their admission process. In all, 44 students produced forged or fake certificates and claimed they were SC or Category 1 candidates to get admission. “We’ll also issue show-cause notices to the students,’’ the VC said.

CAT 2007 Results are out on 8-1-2008. But, most of the candidates failed to get the results online as the http://www.catiim.in/ website crashed due to overload. And the IVR system did not work. However many could find their percentage of marks via Mobile SMS.

The results of CAT 2007 will be available on the cat website: http://www.catiim.in/ on the 8th of January from 3 PM onwards. The scores can be accessed by keying in the test registration number and either the date of birth (preferred) or the cat application number.

Group Discussion and Interviews
The IIMs that have short listed the candidate for group discussion and interviews (if so) will also be displayed automatically. However, the details of the date and venue will be available by post as well as on the individual IIMs web sites (after a couple of days).

Results on Mobile
The scores can also be obtained telephonically through the IVRS or by sending an SMS to 57333. To access the results through SMS, the candidate should send an SMS to 57333 as follows: 'CAT registration number date of birth (dd/mm/yy)' or 'CAT space registration number application number" Example: CAT 5370082 030482.

Should pay a DD for Rs.550/- to the principal of your college. The DD should be drawn in favour of The Executive Director, Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore, payable at Bangalore. In case you belong to the SC/ST category, then the DD amount is Rs.400/- The principal will send the bunch of all the DDs collected in your college to the KEA Cell. And in turn, the KEA Cell will send the Brochure to the College in a bunch and the same will be distributed to you and other applicants of your college.

Students Out-side Karnataka and within India:

Schools begin admissions for Pre-primary & Nursery

City schools seem to have outwitted the government. They have started admission for the nursery class, while the Department of Public Instruction is still in the process of formulating guidelines. According to the existing rules, the admission process cannot begin sooner than April. But no school is in any mood to stick to this rule.

When we enquired with some top schools in the city , we were told that admission forms were available for the academic year 2008-09. ``We will issue the application forms for nursery admissions from January 10. We will also have interviews of parents and the child as well. Do contact us before January 10 for more information’’, a few school admission clerks said.

BE VII semester paper leaks, exam postponed

For seventh semester Mechanical Engineering students affiliated to Vivesvaraya Technological University (VTU), this particular examination got over even before it started.

Scores of students from across who had come prepared for the “Heat and Mass Transfer” paper on Thursday afternoon were sent back home from the examination hall.

Reason: Question paper leak. It all began at around 1.15 pm, with VTU headquarters in Belgaum received a fax containing some hand written questions. On verifying, it was found that the questions matched with that in the original, prompting VTU to cancel the paper.

Exam on Jan 11:.The examination has been rescheduled and will be held on January 11 between 2 pm and 5 pm, sources told.
