English Test for COMEDK UGET-2008 Cancelled
The COMEDK has officially cancelled the proposed test of English for UGET 2008. Hence the UGET-2008 will be similar to that of UGET 2007. This brings a lot of relief to those candidates who were tensed about the new test format this year. However, COMEDK plans to introduce the Test Of English in UGET-2009.
150000 candidates for Karnataka CET & 140 rejected
Karnataka Examination Authority has rejected 140 applications out of nearly 1.5 lakh applications received for Karnataka CET – 2008. These candidates will not be allowed to take the CET this year. Names of the rejected candidates are displayed on the CET website Here. Sorry Guys.

Governor of Karnataka will award the Degree only to Gold Medalists and others who wish to collect the Certificates personally can collect them from the office of the Registrar (Evaluation) on the same day after the convocation ceremony or on March 13, 2008 during office hour on producing the valid identiy card issued by the college. For others, the certificate will be sent by Registered Post immediately after March 13, 2008

Want a BArch Seat ? Registration for NATA 2008 Open Now
Candidates who aspire for admission to 1st year of BArch (Bachelor of Architecture) in India should pass the National Aptitude Test in Architecture - NATA. It is a pre-qualification to take the BArch course in any Engineering College or Architecture School in India, including Government, Aided and Private institutions. Hence, if you are interested in selecting a BArch seat through the CET-2008 or COMEDK CET-2008, you need to pass and possess a Certificate of NATA. There is nothing like `One-Exam-per-year’. You can take the NATA any time convenient to you between 1 January 2008 and 31 September 2008 with a prior appointment. But, KEA has fixed April 23, 2008 as the last date for taking NATA - 2008 and April 26, 2008 as the last date for submitting the NATA scores to KEA. Now there is no hurry. But, it is better to take the exam earlier as you can possess the certificate in time or you make the repeat attempts if necessary. All the colleges offering the Architecture course conduct this NATA.

The first CLAT is being conducted by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. Besides, Law Schools at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Raipur, Bhopal, Gandhinagar and Jodhpur, CLAT will also be conducted at Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Shillong, Jammu, Guwahati, Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.

Bangalore University will hold its 43rd annual convocation on January 19. The list of awardees (gold medal and rank holders) are kept at the counter in the office of the registrar (evaluation), Natural Science Block, Central College campus. Students interested in verifying the list can do so from January 10 to 16 between 11 am and 4 pm on all working days. If there are objections, they must be brought to the notice of the registrar (evaluation), by January 16, a press release said. All awardees have been intimated by post to collect the invitation and passes for the convocation from January 14 to 17 between 11 am and 4 pm on all working days. Admission Malpractice: Notice to 6 Bangalore Management Colleges
The Bangalore University on Saturday decided to issue showcause notices to six management colleges for admitting students with fake certificates. After a Syndicate meeting on Saturday, Bangalore University vice-chancellor H A Ranganath said a sub-committee headed by Prof A N Vijaya inspected 10 colleges, of which, six had discrepancies in their admission process. In all, 44 students produced forged or fake certificates and claimed they were SC or Category 1 candidates to get admission. “We’ll also issue show-cause notices to the students,’’ the VC said.

City schools seem to have outwitted the government. They have started admission for the nursery class, while the Department of Public Instruction is still in the process of formulating guidelines. According to the existing rules, the admission process cannot begin sooner than April. But no school is in any mood to stick to this rule.
When we enquired with some top schools in the city , we were told that admission forms were available for the academic year 2008-09. ``We will issue the application forms for nursery admissions from January 10. We will also have interviews of parents and the child as well. Do contact us before January 10 for more information’’, a few school admission clerks said.
Hence, parents, if you are looking for admission to your kid in a city school, Hurry up.

BE VII semester paper leaks, exam postponed
For seventh semester Mechanical Engineering students affiliated to Vivesvaraya Technological University (VTU), this particular examination got over even before it started.
Scores of students from across who had come prepared for the “Heat and Mass Transfer” paper on Thursday afternoon were sent back home from the examination hall.
Reason: Question paper leak. It all began at around 1.15 pm, with VTU headquarters in Belgaum received a fax containing some hand written questions. On verifying, it was found that the questions matched with that in the original, prompting VTU to cancel the paper.
Exam on Jan 11:.The examination has been rescheduled and will be held on January 11 between 2 pm and 5 pm, sources told.
